Hello, I am Juliet - a South African jewellery and accessories designer. I love being creative.
I was born in Cape Town, but reside in Johannesburg. I am the maker behind Ruby Red Designs. With a background career of advertising, film production and producing. I also have a big creative side and enjoy making special accessories to wear everyday. I have been designing and making goods in various forms for the last 15 years (clothing, bags etc), and jewellery and accessories have become front and center as my favourite!
My love for jewellery (and earrings in particular) has been with me from a young age, and take inspiration from many things - nature, the city, fabric and art. I love striking colours, patterns and combinations with touches of gold and silver, and it shows in my work. My handmade pieces are designed, made and packaged in my own home studio in Johannesburg, then sent to you with lots of love. I source tarnish proof and hypo-allergenic stainless steel findings for 99% of my pieces including the imported stainless steel chains and necklaces, as quality is really important to me.
You may have seen some of my distinctive pieces at the amazing local brand me&b online and instore. Collaborating with this brand was truly fun experience and a great success. One of my favourite projects was the daisy chainmail vest top, and fun earrings were a hit!
